Effective Organization Design drives the organization’s success, as defined by the organization’s goals. An organization is a dynamic assembly of separate communities within one overall structure. Each community has its own set of goals, processes and skills. Processes should be designed and implemented to achieve the community’s goals. Skills within the community should enable effective process execution. The goals of each community should dovetail with the goals of the organization. Additionally, since an organization is dynamic, the ability of the organization to function across communities is a vital consideration. Organization Design includes structuring the communities, processes and skills within an organization, and building mechanisms to coordinate efforts and outcomes across the communities, to achieve desired organizational results.
